TAPE CONVERSION We have the ability to read hundreds of different formats and tapes and most likely can read and convert your tapes. For additional information on data extraction and conversion from the files on magnetic tape, please visit the data conversion page. Listed below are some of the more common tape conversions that we routinely perform. IBM mainframe tape conversions We routinely read and convert both standard label and non-labeled nine track, 3480 and 3490 computer tape to usable PC formats like flat ASCII or MS ACCESS files. See our data conversion page for more options on converting EBCDIC, PIC and COMP-3 data. In addition to tape conversions we can convert data files to IBM standard label or unlabled tapes, block or re-block data sets, stack tapes to different media and tape duplication. UNIX 'cpio' or 'tar' tape conversions Linux is utilized for reading and writing UNIX backup tapes in 'cpio' and 'tar' formats. Since Linux preserves the symbolic links data files can now be rewritten to newer media, like AIT, DLT, or Mammoth Tapes without any data loss. If you are porting your data to the Windows platform, we can write CD's, DVD's or ArcServe, Backup Exec and NTBACKUP formatted tapes. NT and W2K, NTBACKUP tape conversions NTBACKUP is a very common tape and serves as a good transport format. We can read most tape formats and rewrite the data to magnetic tape in NTBACKUP format for reading on your systems. If you are porting your data to other systems we can write CD's, DVD's or ArcServe, Backup Exec and UNIX 'cpio', 'tar' formatted tapes. VAX vmsbackup tape conversions We can read and restore your old VAX VMS nine track, TK50, TK70, TK85, TK86, TZ87, and other data tapes (see supported media) in various VMS formats like 'VMSBACKUP' and 'VAX Exchange''. Having restored your files we can sort the files and write the data to CD's or DVD's. If you require magnetic tape, we can write PC Windows formats including, ArcServe, Backup Exec, NTBACKUP and UNIX formats like 'cpio' and 'tar'. BIT, DLIS and LIS 4mm and nine track tape reformatting and conversion We have been serving the needs of the petroleum industry for the past fifteen years reading, processing and converting wire line well logs, electric logs and other down hole surveys. Most of our clients usually have thousands of digital well log files on nine-track magnetic tape sometimes scattered at numerous locations within their facilities. Usually when historical data is needed, many find out that some of the data is lost, the hardware needed to read the data no longer exists, the data is in the wrong format or the media is failing. We can convert LAS, LIS, DLIS, BIT, SSIS and ESLOG formats
